Next courses start end of September 2025 - a free 8 week in-person course.
This course is designed specifically for individuals diagnosed or at risk of metabolic syndrome. This means having at least two metabolic health conditions including - being overweight, having high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, or pre-diabetes. Led by local certified lifestyle medicine professionals, Dr Jo Darwood (local GP), and Lauren Perchard-Rees (Healthcare Professional) who have over 40 years of combined experience in health care and are passionate about supporting people to achieve better health whilst creating a community for ongoing support.
Courses will be held at various locations and times over an 8-week period, with core 90 minute sessions education sessions and a couple of practical sessions. We cover the science on topics such as nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep, and social connections. The course has maximum 15 people per group. As well as education there will be lots of tools to support behaviour change, such as health coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy.
A recent participant, Ronni from St. Martin’s, who joined the pilot programme for people living with pre-diabetes, shared, "I’m so happy with my results, so enthusiastic about this way of living, and grateful to have had the opportunity to attend."
